"My time spent with Jessa has been a very progressive experience. She sees things from many different levels, involving the body as much as the spirit. She has really tailored lessons to me and my goals. In 3 months shy of a year, I feel my musical abilities have vastly improved. Thanks Jessa." Justin Marshall (Junior at RFHS)

"Jessa, thank you for all your time, encouragement and faith in me. You are a great teacher. I will always treasure our time together and the hard work we did to get my first demo ready." Gayna-Marie Haus

"Jessa, you are a wonderful musician. I love taking piano lessons with you so much. You teach me in a way that is comfortable and unique to my learning style." Linsey Hardin

"Jessa, if you hadn't taught me Castle On The Cloud from Les Miserables, I would never have known how well I could sing it. You are my best friend. When ever I have problems at school you always help me through them with music." Lilli Hardin (age 10)

moonEDUCATION

I have a B.A. in Vocal Studies and Piano Performance from Utah State University. I studied music composition and orchestration with Michael Cjkowski of Juilliard at the Aspen School of Music for three summers and with Dean Madsen at Utah State University.
moonEXPERIENCE

I taught at the Utah State University Piano Conservatory and taught courses for the Alliance for Varied Arts summer camp program in Logan, UT. I teach composition and theory courses for Mountain Laurel Music Preparatory in Aspen, Colorado and have been a teaching artist for Aesthetic Education and the 3 R's (Lincoln Center; New York, NY). I taught coral music at Basalt and Roaring Fork High school for two years and have since directed several musicals at RFHS and at CRMS in Carbondale, CO. I have 7 years experience as a private instructor for teaching voice, piano, and songwriting and am currently an instructor for the Jazz Aspen Pays to Play program.
moonTEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I have learned that to be effective as a teacher, I must first understand how my students learn. Everyone is different, and each person has unique pathways into music. I strive to work with individuals in ways which emphasize their strengths and at the same time help them cultivate the skills they need to actualize their musical dreams.
